What is axe throwing and how can I participate?

Axe throwing is very similar to the game of darts. The objective is to throw your axe into the bullseye area of the target.

There are multiple ways that you can get participate at our facility:

  1. Parties and Events: Our party and event hosting is a great environment for birthday celebrations, corporate events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, as well as family and friend gatherings. Our parties and events are organized through our online reservation system with a minimum 3 day notice. Can I participate if I have never done axe throwing before?

Yes, the tournament is open to all ability levels. We will give everyone 15-20 minutes of practice before to starting. Our staff will provide coaching.

Do you offer axe throwing instruction and coaching?

Yes. Our judges provide thorough technique instruction and cueing. There is coaching available for all ability levels.

What should I expect during my party?

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our staff and introduced to your axe throwing instructor. The instructor will then show you and your party to your own private lane. The session is approximately 2 hours in duration and will start with a 15 minute instruction period, focusing on axe throwing technique and safety policies. All participants will then have 15 minutes to practice throwing. The remainder of the session will comprise of different tournaments and challenges.

Can I bring my children or baby?

Yes, we have no age restrictions. It is our guests' responsibility to monitor their children at all times. It is important to note that our environment can get loud from music, cheering and axes being thrown.

Can I throw if I’m pregnant?

Yes. Guests who are pregnant are able to participate. It is a personal decision based on your physical condition and stage of pregnancy.

Do you have a minimum age requirement?

No. However, all participants must be strong enough to throw the axe in a safe manner. If our staff determine you are not capable of throwing in a safe manner, you will not be able to participate. All participants under 18 years of age will have to have their legal guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.

What should I wear?

We require participants to wear closed-toe shoes. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that will not restrict movement.

Can I bring my own axe?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own axe. Our staff will inspect the axe to make sure it is an appropriate size and safe to throw.

Is axe throwing safe?

Yes. We take safety very seriously. The game is performed in a controlled environment and all axe throwing parties are supervised by a a judge. The judge will teach the axe throwing technique, as well as outline and uphold all of the rules and standards of the games.

Do I need to sign a waiver if I am not participating?

Yes. All guests in our facility have to sign a waiver.

Can I get copies of the photos of my group?

Yes. All of our group photos are uploaded to our Facebook page every 2 weeks. If you do not have Facebook, let us know and we can email you a copy of your group photo. 


Where can I find my photos online?

Please visit our Facebook page. Type Kingston Axe Throwing into the Facebook search bar.

I don’t want my group photos to be posted online, what can I do about this?

If you do not want your group photo posted online, please let your instructor know prior to leaving the facility. Please inform your entire party/event as well. If they would still like the photo, we are happy to email them a copy.

I forgot a personal belonging at KAT. How can I get it back?

We have a lost and found bin where guests’ belongings are added to after every party/event. Send us an email at info@kingstonaxethrowing.com to arrange a day and time to pick up your belongings. All unclaimed belongs will be donated each month to a local second hand store.
